Founder Story

Who sits behind the Sassy Seagull brand??

Hi! That would be me, Daisy! I am am artist and designer based in North Wales.

When I was younger, I studied dance, art and drama at university. By the end of university my job ambition was to be a textile designer. As is often the case, life had other plans and I now work as an NHS Improvement specialist.

In 2020, I reconnected with my first love ❤️ He noticed that I wasn't doing art anymore and questioned it. So I picked it up again and I was definitely out of practice. I did a lot of mediocre art, but I know that creativity is a practice, and I needed to keep creating to keep improving. I learnt from Instagram and took some courses and in 2024 I launched my first products on Redbubble.

As the year progressed, my brand identity developed as I found my style, and Sassy Seagull was born. The name of the brand came from my first illustration which is now known as the Flo and Emily design.

Once again, the same man, my first love and by then my partner, encouraged me to leave the flat and enjoy the sunny weather. As an introvert, I'm quite attached to my spot on the sofa and as he left the flat, he reopened the door around three times...."seriously it's lovely and warm out here, you should get out and enjoy it".I KNEW he would expect that I wouldn't ACTUALLY leave the house. He knows how much I love being curled up on the sofa.

So pig-headely I took myself out for a walk "to prove him wrong" 🤣

Living close to the sea, I wandered down to the beach and photographed a particular seagull. The rest as they say, is history!

Reader, this man is now my husband! And one of my biggest supporters!

Giving Back - Supporting OCD Charities

When I was 25, I was diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). This was a break-through moment for me, having struggled since the age of 15, but not understanding what was wrong. In the 90s, we didn't talk much about mental health, and I'm so glad that we're better at that now.

Anyone who has experienced OCD will know the difficult places it can take you, and I've had many difficult times over the years.

The mental health specialists found the winning medication formula for me - and I haven't been so mentally well in years!

Not everyone is so lucky.

Sassy Seagull aims to bring joy and colour into the world.

As of 16th April 2026, £1 of the profit from each item of clothing we sell, will be split equally between two UK OCD Charities - OCD UK and OCD Action.

There is still so much stigma and misunderstanding around OCD.

Please join me in helping end the stigma

so we can all choose joy and live life in colour!
